Lynn isn't quite sure who she is, but
she's pretty sure of what she wants to be. A warrior woman. A
bad-ass mamajama.
Perhaps an earth goddess extraordinaire. She spends her days
abusing keyboards
and screaming at computer screens while she waits for her
cult following
to finally show up.
She changes her mind more often than extras in rap videos change thongs.

Seriously?
“It’s so hard for me to be on the other side because it’s not our intention. There is a reason behind it all. We don’t see it that way and strive very hard to have a diverse DCU. I mean, we have green, pink, and blue characters. We have the Great Ten out there and I have counter statistics, but I won’t get into that. It’s not how we perceived it. We get the same thing about how we treat our female characters."

Lemme cast that for ya.

That's Terry Crews as Luke Cage, Aaron Eckhart as Danny Rand, Naomie Harris as Misty Knight, Moon Bloodgood as Colleen Wing, Sung Kang as Shang Chi and Monique Curnen as Angela Del Toro.
No need to thank me. Just make the damn movie.
ETA: I know there are other actors who would be a better fit for Shang Chi, but I went with hotness over suitability. Y'all owe me one for Halle anyway.
ETA 2: Y'all owe me several for Halle.

Random tweets about Sentry.
Digital_Femme: I'm just going to believe that Sentry was actually the Beyonder and everyone's past memories of the Sentry are false.
Digital_Femme: The Beyonder wanted to really see what it what like to be mortal, so he divorced himself of his immortal side (Void) and forgot who he was.
Digital_Femme: And now he's reunited and sitting on the Sun and he's really sorry he made y'all think he slept with Rogue when he didn't. Bygones.
Sorry, but y'all are just not going to get me to believe that Rogue and Sentry had sex. That just makes no damn sense.

Law & Order: MU.
As you know, I am very excited about this Shadowland crossover! I absolutely adore Marvel's street level characters and it's about time that they've been given a real shot at the spotlight. I also like the fact that this time around it's not just about the guys getting a major push. Misty and Colleen shouldn't be stuck with D-list status while Luke and Danny get to play in the big leagues. I'm glad they all have proper face time now.
The girls both have their own miniseries debuting soon--and that's awesome. But I'm a little worried that they'll be forgotten soon after. After all, that's pretty much what happened post Daughters of the Dragon. Anyway, I was fooling around on Twitter (again) and thought of a good way to keep the ladies in the forefront of fans' minds after Shadowland wraps. An ongoing series following the lives of seven key characters:
Misty Knight (Police Detective)
After the tumultuous events of Shadowland, Misty Knight returns to the force, hoping to find a life with a bit more stability and a little less spandex. Unfortunately, as desperate as she is to remove herself from the realm of heroes, each case seems to bring her right back into that chaotic world.
Colleen Wing (Forensic Psychologist)
Trading in her grandfather's legacy for her father's, Colleen Wing decides to teach Criminology at NYU. However, the life of an academic does not provide as much excitement as the life of a samurai. And when her old partner Misty comes calling, Colleen answers and takes on an additional gig as a profiler/forensic psychologist for the NYPD.
Black Cat (Bail Bondswoman)
Desperate to go straight and use her powers for good, Felicia Hardy takes over Nightwing Restorations and becomes a bail bondswoman. Her powers come in handy when taking down bail jumpers and the information she provides to Misty and Angela can often make or break a case.
White Tiger (Private Investigator)
Angela Del Toro can only hope that the man whose life she nearly ruined will give her a second chance to do right by him. She takes on a position with Matt Murdock's law firm as a private investigator by day. At night? The claws come out and White Tiger takes to the streets.
Night Nurse (Medical Examiner)
Linda Carter is actually a doctor now, but she loves alliteration. And though she works as a medical examiner for the NYPD, she still loves caring for capes. In fact, her tendency to put the needs of capes above her own career often puts her at odds with Misty Knight. Especially when Carter's reports are altered to protect certain identities or keep the police at bay.
She-Hulk (Prosecutor)
Jennifer Walters returns to the law, this time as a New York prosecuting attorney. Though her professional life is back on track, her personal life seems to need a great deal of work. Or does it? As long as her rent is paid and her cases are won, does is matter if Walters bounces from one superheroic boy-toy to the next? What could possibly go wrong?
Betty Brant (Reporter)
Stepping out from the shadow of Ben Urich, Betty Brant takes over the crime beat for the Daily Bugle. Unfortunately, her inquisitive nature and her tough stance on organized crime tends to draw interest from the wrong element. Luckily for her, she has two guardian angels. One's a fan of webs. The other's a fan of skulls.
And there you have it! I tried to go for female characters who are involved in every aspect of Marvel's New York crime scene. Each woman would take the lead role at a different time to avoid fans growing tired of a particular character. And there's plenty of room for dozens of supporting characters and romantic interests. I think it'd be fun. A nice little blend of Law & Order and Birds of Prey.

T.R.O.Y.
I don't blog anymore because I spend all my time ranting on Twitter and annoying the hell out of the 4L, FBB and WW crews.
---------------
Digital_Femme: Teen Titans, the only place to find a Milestone character, is going on hiatus. WHAT was the whole point of the Milestone deal again?
Digital_Femme: DC acquires the Milestone and WS universes, which are full of racial, ethnic, religious and sexual diversity and does nothing with them.
Digital_Femme: Reboot both universes. Go TPB only. Stick graf and manga inspired artists on the MS books. Hire pop culture obsessed writers for the WS books.
Digital_Femme: Tell the stories you can't get away with in the DCU. Borrow heavily from real life events.
Digital_Femme: Hell, the best thing about the WSU is that 75% of the characters don't age normally. So you can wallow around in pop culture and current events.
Digital_Femme: Meh, I don't know why I bother thinking about this ish. The people who get paid to care aren't even concerned.
---------------
About halfway through this twitter rant I came across scans for Brightest Day #1.
---------------
Digital_Femme Brightest Day # 1? That Aquaman scene? Nope. Can't do it.
Digital_Femme: Has anyone read the whole book? Are all the slavers brown and the children white? http://tinyurl.com/2bzxuns
Digital_Femme: And if so, no one thought that was a bit odd? Hell, that's the first thing I noticed. And I'm just baseline/average race aware.
---------------
And before I could get my blood pressure up on that one, Chris Sims dropped a truth bomb on the internet.
---------------
Digital_Femme: http://dlvr.it/prxD <- Good article. I wonder if DC understands that it can have its cake and eat it too by having some characters age.
Digital_Femme: It could also have its cake and eat it too through WS and Milestone, which ties into my early morning bitching. Circle of life, guys!
---------------
And then D went and linked me to someone saying something stupid about hip hop and I stopped caring about comics for the day.
Look, it's all about nostalgia and the good ol' days at DC now. I get it. Here's the problem. There are many of us in our twenties and thirties who don't give a damn about the good ol' days. We find those good ol' days boring, stifling and a little bit sexist and racist. And we're going to look at things like this, and this, and this, and we're going to run right over to Marvel and start buying that new Shadowland crossover. Or maybe we'll bounce on over to Image for some Invincible. Either way, we won't be buying any DC books.
Any you know who won't be buying them either? Kids in their tweens and teens. You think Aquaman, the old Firestorm and Deadman are going to tear them away from manga and the Muppet Show? Not likely.
You know who that leaves, right?
Look, DC has every right to cater to a small group of white guys in their early forties who have a nostalgic longing for the stories of their youth. Those guys are very loyal customers with a lot of disposable income. However, there are a lot of other people out there who have no interest in those stories. There are a lot of people out there who actually resent those stories due to their exclusionary nature.
And DC needs to give those people something to read. Fast. Because we're getting antsy. And if I can't get any Cassandra Cain at DC, then I'm sure Marvel can provide a close enough facsimile.
What is astounding to me is that DC has two imprints available that could be used to cater to the audience it will definitely lose if it continues in its current direction. Wildstorm and Milestone. What is being done with these imprints? Nothing good. Milestone has been buried. Wildstorm? A muddled mess of continuity that no new reader would want to jump into. Sad. These two imprints could be the Marvel that Marvel can't be. The Marvel that Marvel tanked by damn near decimating the Ultimates universe. Wildstorm and Milestone could have been used as another chance to explore new concepts. After all, there's a good foundation right there for the taking.
And what does DC do? Takes yet another dip in the nostalgia pool with the Red Circle characters. Can someone please explain this to me? If you tell Captain America stories with the Shield, aren't people just going to keep buying Captain America? Isn't the point to tell the stories that you can't tell when you're hindered by trademarks? That's when you get Shadow Cabinet or The Authority instead of a copycat JLA.
Why am I even wasting my time blogging about this? I have Hellboy and Empowered. I have Luke Cage. I have Episodes from Liberty City and General Hospital. I have romance. I have family drama. I have angst. I have multi-cultural mayhem. I'm thoroughly entertained.
Bump it.
